Army of ancient Chi

The army of Chi, my version of the army of ancient China.

For those who been waiting for my army pieces, sorry for the long wait. It took more research than I thought it would. The army here is base on China's "Spring and Fall" period, or around 550B.C., to 212. B.C. Warriors of the Dragons, a book about Chinese Warfare.

Chi is a country once ruled by the powerful Zhou, who ruled the kingdom in a feudal manner. Over time, the strengh of the king was dimished by feudal barons, and around 550 B.C. His rule cresed to exist. Endless fighting contiune until, by 300 B.C. They were only seven states. It during this time that this army is base on.

Now the details

Chi peasants: The peasant of Chi hav a vast population, familical piety and an very enduring additude. The peasants of Chi are sometime levied into the army.

Convicts or "Shang Ti" ( the dead) as I like to call them, were forced into the army, often as ideal frontline fodder, or the "forlorn hope" of an assaulting force. In one certain state of Yeuh, the deperates ruler employ ad tactic that was as brutal as it was efffective. Under threats upon the families, the convicts were order to silt their throats just before the battle, as a way to shock the opposing enemies.

Dagger axe man: Dagger axes became all the range even before the "Summer and fall periord." It origins occur nearly a thousand year eariler, and a simple narrow head axe. The various states of Chi still use these simple warriors as shock troops, since the axes can piece through armor.

Chu spearman: by this time, most of of the various states of Chi had a series of specialized units. The state of Chu was well known by it's armored spearmen. They were similar to spearmen of other states, but much more aggesive and skill with their spear and sheild techniques.
