The city of Solonder was a small city state that exists in the Itat peninsula became the largest and most organized empire in the Darin continent. The military forces of the Solonder army are the marvel of the ancient world. The heavy infantry of the Solonder have carved out an empire that stretches from Egypt to Hispania to Britannia to Dacia. Their units are heavy legion and organized auxiliaries.
Solonder armies are divided into two groups, the republican armed forces and the imperial army. The Republican army was made out of heavily armed citizen soldiers; the Imperial army is a very versatile group of unit T he Golonderians and the disciples of the Greeks are the influences of the Imperial forces.
• Solonder Peasant: The peasants of Solonder are often force to fight for the empire that the Solonder had created. These peasants are no different than the farmers of other people, and are no more willing to fight for their social betters. They fight because they must.
•Town militia: militia that are as a police force, garrison and defense of a town. The Solonder town militia is no different than other town militia of other factions. Armed with light spears, a tower sheild and a copper helmet, these light infantry are best used in city seiges.
•Solonder spearman: The backbone of the Solonder imperial armies, the spearman is the defensive anchor of the line. They come from the larger cities of Latium. They have basic training. Long spear, tower sheilds and chainmail are their arms
Principes: The City of Solonder was not always the capital of a great empire. When Solonder was forced into the Latium League, the soldiers they provided were called Principles. In imperial times, the Principles was called whenever the city itself was threaten. The Principles are armed with a graduis, a large rectangular shield, and a mail shirt. He also fires javelins before the battle is joined
•Trianni: The trianni are also a unit that existed during the Republican era. The trianni was the last men sent to fight. They are veteran spear men, usually in their late 30s and earliers 40s. Their armor is similar to the Principles. They are the last line in battle.
•Extraordinarii: The Extraordinarii are Italian forces that are in direct control of the consul and are the near elite of the Solonder forces. They do not just come from the Solondor, but the fighting forces of the entire Itat people. They have high levels of diclipline and can sometime be more tactically flecible than the Legion. Extraordinarii are armed with a bronze muscle cuirass, a bronze helmet, a round shield, several light javelins and a kopis sword.
Solonder Legion: When Marius Gaius became leader of the Populist Party in the Solonder Senate. He reformed the army. No longer would the army be formed by different social classes but it was open to all. Made out of Solnder citizen volunteer, these highly trained troops are the main fighting force of the Solonder empire. repeated mock combat, drills and long marches build one of the most diciplined and well trained soldiers in the ancient world.
•Praetorians: The Praetorians are an elite group of infantry, usually chosen for their political connections as well as their fighting skills. They come from the legion and have better armor. In imperial times, the were the emperor's personal guards, and were the only one who were allow to have weapons in imperial Sol. Later they were notorious for deposing the emperor/empress
•Gladiators: Gladiators are specially infantry that are part of the Damniti, slaves that are sentenced to die. They are trained to fight in gladiator school. In time of war, they can sometime be sent to battle. Gladiators are equipped with different weapons and armor depending on what type of Gladiators they are. Gladiators are divided into six different types.
•Vulgar auxiliary: a vaugen unit that serve as skirmishers. They are cheap warriors who can provided a distraction before the real battle begins. They are Vaugen (anthro) warriors from the east. The vaugens are armed with a small shield, a clutch of javelins, and a short sword. They usually do not wear any armor. The Felina or Vugars, as they are called in the empire, are standard skirmishers in battle. They are considered cowardly bunch by their Roman commanders.
•Elvin archer auxiliary: In imperial times, the Elves of Britannia, Golonder and Iberia were incorporated into the army as archers. The elves of the empire are treated like many of the provincila of the empire and are sent to the armies as auxiliaries Those who are Solonder citizens however are usually allowed to join the legions. Traditionally, the elves disdain close combat weapons and they are experts with the bow. The elves auxiliaries is best used as long range bowmen. drawing hands are cut off.
Centurian: These veteran warrior have been in the Solonder army for a least 15 years and at least one campaign. These fearless men have control of 80 men that follow his every world. Their Draconian method have save the lifes of many soldiers
